Fistula plug recovery

Posted , 2 users are following.

I had surgery for my anal fistula a week ago, which was the insertion of a collagen plug (safest option as it's going through a lot of muscle, unfortunately). I was told my recovery wouldn't be too painful and if successful, heal in 2 weeks (only a 50% success rate).

Does anyone have any details about recovery for a plug? There seems to be a lot of drainage coming out, including what looks like the end of the plug, and I'm still very sore - is this supposed to happen or has something gone wrong? Any info regarding recovery/healing from a fistula plug would be appreciated!
