Fistulotomy expectations (had it done yesterday)?

As the title says, after months of having a loose seton they decided to proceed with a Fistulotomy as they thought a cutting seton wouldn't be needed. All of yesterday I was fine and quite hopeful! There was no pain so I figured I'd take all the precautions I did for my seton (showers after BMs etc) and that would be that. I was so wrong.

Today I woke up with a bad stomach (IBS) went to the toilet and the pain of the BM was unbearable. I hadn't even had time to help soften the stools etc, so it was a nightmare - made sure I still had a shower afterwards. despite not wanting to I ended up taking the codeine provided after hours of just hell. I had a bit of blood as well. I'm also worried I've ruined everything they've done inside due to that constipation!! I heard the fistulas can come back and I'm so tired of this. Can anyone give their tips/experiences & is this normal? I'm 21F and i feel alone because none of my friends can understand. 😦

    wondering how you feeling ? have you fistula improved ? try magnesia milk. nobody can understand what we go through ans believe me I know what you going through. i will try again some remedies and if this doesnt work then I will do LIS.
