flat stools for some time

hi i’m 16 year old male that’s very very active and i eat rather good. i’ve been having some flat stools every now and then for the past few months. no pain or straining when trying to go, just some of it is round but some of it can be flat. i haven’t had a “thick” stool in a few weeks probably. my mom has ibs but don’t want to assume i do too but most of the symptoms i have are the same as her. don’t really know if i should be concerned or not?

Colsonim not a doctor but if you. Don't have blood in them or weight loss for no reason you are probably sage but if your symptoms change definitely see a doctor

I'm suffering from the same thing too! I think it's either my anxiety or IBS. I personally have never seen blood in stool, loss a large amount of weight in a short amount of time unintentionally, fever, or those warning signs. Flat/thin stool is a sign of IBS. I get it too. Up your fiber intake. It makes your stool bulkier.

could be fissure, or piles (hemorrhoids). I occasionally get bleeding around that..area, too. Mine is because I suffer from diarrhea (leads to excessive wiping) and constipation (passing hard stools or big stool that can cause a tear). A little blood on the paper is most likely nothing to worry about. I sometimes get itching when I have a fissure to. It's really common.

If you are at all concerned it is best to see a doctor, a few tests should tell a lot about what your problem is most likely to be.  I would have thought that, at your age and with your symptoms, bowel cancer is the least likely of the possible causes of your problem but, as always, it's best to get professional advice on this.

It does depend on when the CT and MRI scans were carried out but, together with your lack of other symptoms,  it would seem to indicate that serious problems are unlikely.  As always, though, it is best to get advice from the professionals.

Colson it does sound reassuring and it could be a lot of minor things if you don't lose appetite or weight you are probably ok but I'm not a doctor take care of yourself
