hello! I decided to share my experience to everyone who's having their sigmoi soon, So this is for future reference. But before I start, I know that every individual is different so as experiences and pain tolerance... This is only based on what I actually felt during the procedure and I hope it will help some of you to understand how it actually feels like.
So I just had my flexisig hours ago, and I can say that its more like an uncomfortble pain than severe pain (if you know what i mean) last night, I made the terrible mistake on looking in to google..It never made me sleep and felt so anxious about it! I expected that its going to be extremely painful! but TBH its not, I was so sure that im going to ask to be sedated but after I was given my enema ( btw this is more painful than the procedure itself) I had a brief talk with my endoscopist and she explained me the difference between the two (gas and air or sedation) and the pros and cons.. after learning that sedation will not ease the pain and you will need someone to be with you 24hrs after given it, I decided that Ill just have the gas and air as its the actual pain relief.. and besides i dont have anyone to mind my 2yo daughter... when i got to the endoscopy room, They asked me to practice on gas and air first before they start doing the procedure, after 4 puffs and huffs i felt proper drowsy then they started. the feeling was a bit weird and uncomfortable at first but not painful until it gets to your intestine. Yes it was painful but tolerable pain..its not that you will scream or cry.. its nothing like child birth... atleast for me... so they had a little explore for about 10-15mins and i just kepy using my gas and air and theb its done! they removed the camera and i felt normal again. right after that got sent to recovery ward then nurse gave me bisquit and tea then im done! put mu clothes back and went home, ate loads of pizza as if nothing happened hahahaha . Im glad i did it atleast will give me peace of mind! so if anyone is about to get one, please dont be scared, ask for sedation if you feel like having it or just gas and air, purely up to you. at the end of the day it only takes a few minutes pain doesnt last longer than that and and you will be treated according to your findings and of course prevention is always better than cure! so best of luck everyone!
