Flexibility issue in big toe and former hammer toe

So, my surgery was on my right foot, for bunion and then on the second toe which was hammer toe. On Oct 31. There was no fusion, no permanent hardware inserted. The hammer toe had a pin inserted through it. This was removed after 6 weeks. My big toe is rather stiff, can only move a bit downwards and laterally. The second toe is so stiff that it feels like the pin is still skewering it although the pin is gone. Do you have a similar experience? I am trying to gently stretch these two toes but it seems they don't want to co-operate. Also, my surgeon seems opposed to physical therapy.

Hi, i can totally relate to the big toe been stiff, i am 2yrs post op & i had a pin left inside my big toe also with a plate & screws left inside to correct my foot, but i have a stiff big toe now, also its quite numb underneath, i cant bend my foot like before either, i suppose its just how it is! my doctor told me my big toe will be numb due to not having good circulation as its stiff! You should mention this to your doctor to get an oppinion!

I had a bunion opp on my left foot 2 years this coming January, the surgeon who performed the opp had used a screw to join the bones together. Unfortunately the screw he used was to big and has been rubbing on my bone so i am in a lot of pain. I had a lot of physio but it didnt work so went back to see another surgeon thats when i found out the surgeon had done the surgery wrong subsequently i have to have the same surgery again next month. Really angry about this as you put your faith in there hands. GO Back to your Dr and aske for physio.

I am only seeing my doctor on Feb 14. When I asked him about physio he said he did not recommend it and that sometimes it leads to the re appearance of bunions. Also, he did not put any screws or anything. I guess he believes in all natural surgery and recovery. I feel about about all of us who have to suffer...
