Flickering and flashes in eyes after combined surgery

2 years after receiving both vitrectomy and cataract surgery to both my eyes (operations performed 2 weeks apart), I am still experiencing distressing symptoms of flickering and flashing of all light sources.

A further result from my surgery is double vision.   Is there anyone out there with any of these symptoms following this kind of surgery?

I have been told that the implanted lenses may be capturing the light on the edges of the lenses and that could be one of the problems, the othere possible caue is that the implanted lenses are not entirely stable and are vibrating.  these combined problems cause dizzyness nausea and light sensitivity.  After 2 years I am so tired of the flickering, if there is anyone out there who has a solution, i would love to hear it.

Very sorry to hear about your problem.  I experienced the exact same issues but only for about 3 weeks post surgery so definitely feel for you.  Having gone through other issues since my surgery i have done quite a bit of research on cataract surgery related issues.  Have you ever seen a retina specialist to make sure you do not have any retina damage.  The flashing of light is typically associated with this.

It seems to me that the best solution would be to go back to whoever did the surgery, tell them it wasn't successful and ask them to rectify the problem, especially if that's where your information as to cause came from

I too have the problem of light flashes, sensitivity to lights (mostly at night) and jumping of things I'm reading.  First I had a vitrectomy then cataract surgery.  When I'm reading sometimes there is a kind of jittering/jumpiness and sometimes when I am tired.  Also at night when I turn off the light, I get flashes of light afterwards.  I pretty much ignore it and the eye doctor said it may go away but so far, two months post op it hasn't.  I don't have any other issues though.  It makes sense that if the lense is still not stable that it could vibrate.  For me I haven't seen any change at all though.  Good luck.
