Floaters are a common occurrence after cataract surgery, although I didn't get mine until a year afterwards. I've been dealing with mine for 4 months and they are driving me insane. My retina specialist tells me they should settle but I need to give it 6 months to a year and if they don't settle he will do a vitrectomy to get rid of them. Some floaters are bearable, like the squiggly lines and specks. I have blobs that move back and forth every time I move my eyes, these are a lot harder to get used to. Quite frankly I don't think I'll ever get used to them.

so i had catarac surgery 2 two years ago. After about six months on each eye, I had to have YAG laser due to Scar tissue. After my YAG laser the scar tissue that was busted up from the laser was stuck in my field of vision. Every time I move my eyes the light would shimmer. It was maddening. my cataract doctor could not understand this. So I then went to a retina specialist. He said I really don’t see anything but since you’re so symptomatic I am going to do a vitrectomy on your request. And sure enough when he went in to do the vitrectomy on each eye He found what he called a Christmas like tinsel in my eyes. He sucked it out and it was amazing. No more maddening strands of that stuff in my eyes. I forget The term the retina specialist used for this tinselly type stuff

Hi
Sorry to hear you deal with this problem.
What you experience is not uncommon after cataract surgery, and in most cases it will settle and get better on its own, but if you have not had floaters before, and they have just appeared now after 4 weeks, you should consult your eye clinic, and get their opinion about it.
Maybe they would like to see you to check it, maybe not, but you should ask them.

i was told before surgery that i have a lot of floaters. i never really noticed them. few months after surgery i notice them as a blob that make vision blurry and i have to move eyes to clear it. also i have PVD in that eye.

soks, how are your floaters? I have the blobs too.
Are you considering vitrectomy?

i will have vitrectomy after YAG so the YAG capsule debris will also be OUT!
my non surgery eye also has floaters but they are not that noticeable.
