Fluid on knee

Had TKR about 7 months ago and have had a rough recovery. I had a small lump on the outside of the knee prior to surgery that my surgeon wasn't concerned with. Well, the lump has tripled in size but still my surgeon wasn't concerned. Went for a second opinion and that surgeon wasn't concerned either. I got so annoyed with this lump that I finally convinced my doctor for an ultrasound. Just got the results back to find out I have a fluid filled sac on the outside of my new knee. Anyone experience this and what did you do about it? It's definitely causing pain and limiting the motion of my new knee. I just can't believe two knee surgeons didn't pick up on this.

I didn’t have a fluid sac above and touching my medial knee until after a pkr in February. Two weeks after my surgery I went to have staples removed at surgeons office. When the nurse removed the first staple blood started shooting out . They made me lie down on the table and they aspirated several ounces of blood . Now I have another smaller sac with fluid in it but he says it’s not blood and it’s normal.its been that way for 7 weeks and he said it’s because of the trauma from the surgery and the ligaments , muscles , and tendons rub up against the rough chiseled out area near my new artificial knee joint. I may ask for an ultrasound myself as I was going to ask for another MRI and I’m sure he wouldn’t approve that .

Definitely get the ultrasound. It took my pain management doctor, physical therapist, AND dermatologist to be concerned about it to finally convince my surgeon to ok the test. Very frustrating!

    Is this a baker’s cyst?

Going to buy the patches and give it a try!

No, not a bakers cyst, at least they didn't call it that. They just said fluid on the knee.

A baker’s cyst is typically at the back of the knee.

They checked for that on the back of my knee but everything was ok. It's just a huge lump on the right outside of the knee, in front.
