Hi been a while since been on site.At GP yesterdayOn spironolactone 50mg for three weeksStill got slight swelling of ankles and some fluid of lungs. She says it is cardiac in nature so is contacting cardiology again. She looked at my discharge letter from 28 months ago which said I had a "sluggish"heart.I know at the time I had light left ventricle impairment.Term "sluggish"was not mentioned.Anyone know what it means?

I think it refers to your Left Ventricle Ejection Fraction which is the percentage of blood ejected from your left ventricle. Normally about 50/55% to 75%.

Yours might be below the norm but can still be lived with.

Since you've been diagnosed with a heart issue previously they'll probably do more tests to see exactly what your heart issue is. I was having issues like you for the past couple of years and was diagnosed with Hocm a year ago after an angiogram. It was treated with a alcohol septial ablation and since than I've been feeling great and heart is working normal. In my case this is hereditary and my case was an extreme heart issue that needed extreme treatment. Is there heart issues with either of your parents or siblings?

When you see cardiologist request angiogram as other test only give them 50% of the information they need about the heart the angiogram gives them 100% of the information on what going on. My mom died suddenly at 70 of a massive heart attack didn't know until now that it was hereditary. Good luck I'm very fortunate to have had great doctors and I'm well and so is my heart.😅

So glad for you.I have had two angiograms. The las one done Jan'15 showed minimal damage (I had unknown to me had a heart attack earlier in'14 which I thought was a bad angina attack ),no blocked arteries but impairment of left ventricleWill see what cardiologist has to say when my appointment comes through-GP reckons approximately 2months

I had no heart attacks but lots of other heart issues as hypertension since I was in my early 30's, a heart murmur I was born with and CHF which I was diagonised with in late 2014. In early 2015 I was having fluid build up around my left lung with no medical reason for it(had many test with negative results) no lung issue causing it had it drained every other week and lost 15#s during that time. Finally was scheduled for andiogram and was diagnosed with Hocm which 1 out 500 people will have and if in family 50% of offspring with have it. Sounds like your heart condition is just as bad as mine.

A doctor in UK actually first did an alcohol septial ablation to correct this heart condition 20 years ago now it's being done worldwide in Catherization Labs so you have very good cardiologist in the UK.
