Fluoxetin will ruin your life!!

I started on Fluoxetine 20mg and moved to 40mg. Was on it for about 6 months. I took it for an eating disorder. It worked amazingly for the purpose it was prescribed. The side effects on the other hand left me with high anxiety, crazy irrational thinking and behavior. I had self disassociation, derealization, lost thoughts, foggy thinking and suicidal thoughts and actions. I lost my job after 11 years and has nearly cost me my family. I did not taper off but trashed the meds and am under watch for safety until this horrible medicine is out of my system. I do not recommend this medicine as the side effects far outweigh the benefits.

Hi,I'm sorry to hear about your troubles and feel for you. could this possibly lead to someone doubting their relationship or irrational thoughts similar? As my girlfriend, well ex now has been on them and stopped and started and since she has all of a sudden ended me and her out of the blue and it's coincides with these tablets and also she's been really low and in a dark place her mum says. It's totally out of character for her.

Obviously it was not the right medicine for you and that was to be determined between you and your doctor. However, this medicine has worked wonders for others so for you to throw out a blanket statement of "Fluoxetin will ruin your life!!" is ludicrous. In the words of the great Jeffrey Lebowski... "Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man."

Exactly, I saw this post and it scared me. And so far Prozac I can tell has helped me a lot but I'm still going through things that scare me and for me to see this, just freaks me out. But we are different people and it probably didn't work well for her at all so you should keep that to yourself or just don't say things like it will ruin your life. Some people have been saved by takin this drug.

Hi Sheryl, sorry to hear you are going through a rough time, and you lost your job, well when your better you can always get another job, the main thing is you still have your family, and that is more important than any job, you need your family right now, and all they want for you is for you to get better.......I myself are reducing off Fluoxetine, every other day for this last week, felt okay for a couple of days, and now my anxiety is through the roof, usually go okay of a night, but not tonight, hope tomorrow is better, and I was only on Fluoxetine 10.5 weeks, as Tramadol from a knee op left me with a chemical imbalance causing severe anxiety, but I lost too much weight on Flu and I was going worse not better, but i must admit coming off them isn't any better, i just hope I am coming near to being noemal again,,,, hope everthing goes okay with you.....
