Fluoxetine 10mg

Hello. I have been on 10 mg a day of fluoxetine for almost five weeks now. I started feeling a lot better on the third week and now that I'm close to my fifth week I'm starting to have the same symptoms that I had when I first started the medication. One of my big symptoms was chest pain that would come and go depending on how anxious I was. For the past two days I have been feeling the chest pain again and also been really lightheaded and having palpitations. Help?

I am on the same med and Dr wanting me to work up to 40mg. I had similar issues and had a stress test with ekg and chest X-ray you may want to do to confirm your heart is good. Mine checked out OK. I'm switching from Celexa which he had me up to 60mg. I know forsure it takes quite a while, weeks and maybe over a month. Each person's different. Also work on or try to illuminate stressors and limit your caffeine. Also exercise daily if you can, 30-60 minutes. Getting into a gym or even just walking and get your heart rate up. See your Dr first with what I mentioned above. Prayers for you.

Thank you so much for replying OreElect ♡ I have been to to the ER numerous times because of this and I've had EKGs and echocardiograms and my heart has been ruled out. This pain sucks so bad and the palpitations is what worries me the most. I'm hoping that the Prozac continues to work for me and it will help me feel normal again. Again, thanks for the reply and I hope that this medication works for you. Best of luck ♡

Recovery often comes in patches/waves, so being up then down is quite typical of this medication - often feeling like you're back at the beginning.  This will wear off in time.  Much time.

You should however get your chest pain checked out.  I'm sure it's nothing and maybe tension, but do get a check up.

Hi katecogs, thanks for the reply. I've been to the ER so many times with these pains and they always do EKGs and also check heart enzymes to make sure it's not my heart. Everything always comes back normal and I always do follow up with my pcp and she has sent me to do stress tests and echocardiograms and those also check out normal, so they blame the anxiety. I do feel like I'm back at the beginning. I'm just waiting for that magical day like the one I had about two weeks ago where I felt normal for atleast that one day.

Could it be indigestion?  That's usually in the chest.  I know I used to get a few stomach pains when I first started the meds.  As long as all your tests have come back normal, that's a relief.

Yes that lovely feeling will come back again, and also some more low times.  This pattern will happen for quite a while but that lovely feeling will get longer and stronger each time and the low time less and less.

I hope your chest pains get sorted in time and ease off.

Thank you for talking to me. I feel so helpless at times. I'm glad to know that even though there will still be hard times, I'll have good ones as well. ♡♡

I remember feeling helpless too, many times, but yes, it does get easier.  It's a very long slow process, but you'll get there.

      Best wishes
