Fluoxetine and derealisation?

Posted , 5 users are following.

Hey guys, so, i just wanted to know if you've ever experienced these symptoms before?

I started fluoxetine again about a week and a half ago and ever since a week tomorrow i have been feeling very detached and not myself - i feel my whole life is a dream and i dont really know why! These feelings are extremely uncomfortable and scary and i wanted to know if you guys have ever experienced these feelings on prozac? Ive been to my GP multiple times and had bloods and vitals checked and everything is normal. Ive also been struggling with sleep, e.g waking up feeling completely numb and panicked and my ears stuffed and then not being able to get back to sleep... any ideas?

I didn't get these side effects before on prozac.

Hi ryuukuu yes these are all symptoms of Flouxitine , it's very early days for you an it gets worse before it gets better , but the good news is,it does get better everyone is different an it takes a different amount of time for it to Properly work , so try an stick with it , I no it's not nice , am on week 10 an still get anxiety , but feeling a lot better than the first four , five weeks good luck

Thank you so much, its comforting knowing that they're just side effects and not me going absolutely crazy. Derealization sucks, i feel like im living in a fog the whole time - my appetite has also gone too. But thank you so much and i will try to stick with it.

Hey! I was in the same boat as you! Was on fluoxetine fine about a year ago, but when I started it this past week felt like I was dying. I decided to stop because the derelization really does suck sad but good luck to you and I hope you keep going!

Heya, its sad to hear you gave up, hopefully you'll find something that works for you! My doc said to just keep going for a bit as sometimes it can take a while for side effects to wear off. Thank you though!! X

Can be a side effect of your medication

Check the paper in the box with explanations of the drug you are taking

I did talk to my GP about it and he said it was an existing side effect - i just wanted to see if anyone else experienced it.

Try to move on away from it

I take two AD medications, one of them for nerve damage and the other for Reactive Depression. I also take Opiates every day and believe me when I say the mixture of the three and others do my head in, and I will be pushing drugs until I knock on those pearly gates.

Some of my side effects are real doozies and I never wish them on anybody.

      Keep a hold

      Always here if needed
