fluoxetine and sleep

Hi everyone

I have been taking flu for 3 weeks now. I have been having sleep problems all along i think it may be anxiety or side egfects..but they don't seem to get better. Im not taking sleeping pills and taking flu at around 2pm. I feel super drowsy during the day and night I'm wide awake and too worried because I can't fall asleep#!. Any advise? Should I take the flu at a different time? Does anyone here experience this?

My 19yr old daughter has been on it 6 weeks now, and the worst side effect has been lack of sleep.

Up to week 5,  every night she woke up lots of times, and lay awake for hours,  also bad night sweats

The last week hasn't been good, But it's been better!!

She started taking 1 night time kalms tablet. She is desperately hoping it improves.  Xx

Hi Karen hope your daughter can sleep.  I'm good during the day but at night is the problem.  I tried melatonin but does nothing. Is "kalms" a sleeping pill?

It's a natural herbal tablet,  recommended dose is 4 tablets,  but she takes only one tablet an hour before bed.

She takes her flu tablet around 9am, as this is what the Dr suggested.

She is so looking forward  to a good night's  sleep!  Xx

    Hi jenmasu

Feel for you as lack of sleep just makes everything feel much worse. Been on flu 8 wks now, take it around 10am. At first, among other things, woke up so many times a night often with sweats n just felt wiped out the whole time.  That made me so much more anxious and stressed. I did take sleep aid (sainsburys pharmacy- been good for me but check with chemist) quite a few nights n still sometimes do but it did get better after 4-5 wks.

Now I sleep well most nights, for around 6hrs still often wake 5ish with sweats but ive kind of got used to those so dont get so anxious any more and can often get back to seep for a bit.

Def worth trying kalms as herbal but if not ask chemist or dr what they can recommend. A friend uses camomile tea which she says helps but I'm not a fan - more a pg tips person :-)

Hope you manage to get some sleep soon. It takes time but it does get better.

    Vix
