Fluoxetine brand change

I have been stable on fluoxetine 40mg for several years. I have had several different generic brands over the years, and been fine. This is despite family bereavements and the usual stresses of life.
I got a new packet on 10th October, and for the last couple of weeks have been having bad dreams, low mood and energy, not wanting to socialise, not even bothering to brush my hair before going to work etc. Have realised I am depressed.
Made a silly mistake at work on Friday and now feel even worse.
Wondering if it might be the change of brand? How likely is this?

Generics are generally very much the same as the original medication, there may be small differences in the make up of the drug although the active drugs will be the same. Give the Generic time to work and see how you get on. It may be you are anxious of the change. Try to forget that and just carry on

Hi Jkeffy. I have had great results from Prosaz and the generic but I am very sensitive to medicine and the slightest change in some meds can set me off. At this point as has already been said I would go back to the doctor that gave it to you and let him/her know that you are having issues. After years on Prosaz it stopped working and I then had to find another. I tried so many and had so many side effects that I could not bare them. Then came lexapro. My new savior! Now after years of success with lexapro it's not working as well so doc is adding some Prosaz!! Hallelujah. God is good!! Good luck! Trust yourself! Please let us know how you are getting on. Diane

Yes my long suffering GP knows me well. I only saw him a few weeks ago for a medication review, hence the new prescription and change of brand, same chemist.
Have booked an appointment for a couple of weeks time- in the meantime grinding
