So, as I write this I'm nearing the end of Day Two on 20mg of Fluoxetine. And so far, the physical side effects are horrendous. I have had painful headaches and severe nausea, to the point where I have actually vomited. How long do such effects last? It's terrible feeling this way. sad

I'm into my 5th week and just starting to see an improvement in the nausea. It was horrendous for the first 3 weeks.

Were you able to keep anything down at all? I'm not far into it I know but it is so draining already.

I wasn't sick but felt like it constantly. Hardly ate anything and lost weight. Try having a slice of toast in bed before you get up. It's only the last few days the nausea has improved and I'm eating a little better. All I wanted to do was either stay in bed or sit in the chair.

I have been on these tabs for almost 2 weeks now. And I am not kidding you, the side effects were horrid , But I have stayed on them to prove a point to myself . As I gave up on the first lot of tables I was prescribed and regretted it.And my illness has lasted far longer than it should have .I am self employed , and been off work up to now a month , because of these side effects. A friend of mine takes the same tabs , and has no trouble at all. It just goes to show you , that we are all different. They say it takes 2 to 4 weeks to get into your system . Today I am beginning to feel a little better. But it has been very challenging, , and at times frightening. But hopefully worth it .

Hi Sylvia - I have been on Fluoxetine for 16 days now.  I also had headaches in the beginning.  But they went away after a week.  It's not 100% gone but they do go away.  As far as nausea I also had that and that too went away.  The problem with this medicine is that it takes time and we all want results yesterday. lol  I have been feeling really anxious and nervous lately but sticking with it as I know it will work.  Most people say it takes 2-4 weeks but I'm thinking it's closer to 4 weeks.  My mom is on the same medicine and it took her 4 weeks to start to feel better.

Good luck with this and pray for the best for you.  Hoping to see improvements soon too.  For now I have to keep myself busy.  smile

Give it at least a couple weeks. Don't take it on an empty stomach if you are feeling sick. Always take it with food. It will get better trust me!!
