Fluoxetine to venlafaxine

So after 4 months of been on fluoxetine 40mg my anxiety and panic attacks are not where I would like them to be so after speaking to my GP he has suggested coming off the fluoxetine and trying venlafaxine as i also have constant stomach problems with fluoxetine.

I start down to 20mg tomorrow for a week and then everyother day for a week and then every 3rd day. Starting venlafaxine on the week I drop fluoxetine to every other day ??

Has anyone else been on venlafaxine and what are your opinions?? I been offered benzo''s but don't really want to start taking them

Thanks Shane

My recommendation is do not take benzos!! I've started them a year ago and now going through the difficulties of coming off them! Wish I'd never been given them!

Yes do not take benzos no matter how bad.  They are hell. Dr who gave them to me should not have a job.

Hey man venlafaxine is an SNRI and WAY better than benzos. Benzos are highly addictive medcations. SNRI are very similar to SSRI

Ive just restarted Venlafaxine as its always worked for me in the past, fewer side effects also and very potent for anxiety.

    Good luck

Thanks for your reply guys .. I've read how bad benzos can be so I refused them when I was offered.. ive been on paroxatine, sertraline, mirtazapine and floxatine and none have really done anything for my amxiety and panic so really hoping a change to venlafaxine will really help a's I herd it is supposed to be very good for anxiety.
