Fluoxetine withdrawal

Hi

It's been 4 weeks since I had a dose of fluoxetine and I'm feeling terrible. I've tried to come off them before but the side effects were too much so went back on them. I am having symptoms such as anxiety, depression, detachment (emotions are so flat and very spaced out) suicidal thoughts etc. My issue is, is this what I'm like without the tablets or am I still in withdrawal? I'm determined to get off but if this is how I'm going to feel now? I've lived with depression since 15, I'm now 36 and it has got so much worse with age, I've had to give up work, hardly leave the couch, just don't have much of a life now. My friends, family and partner are all amazing but I feel like I'm never going to be able to enjoy my life. I know Fluoxetine has a longer half life but just wondering if anyone has took a massive dip then came out better after coming off? Thanks.

hi fiona, i agree with shaun come off these slowly and ditch 'em! i hated fluoxetine and tbh i am so allergic to antibiotics and medication i take NOTHING for depression, i'd rather talk to someone! everyone is different - try different antidepressants and remember after a while your body doesn't react nicely to them and they then don't do you so good!

i was on citalopram for over 15 years and just became immune to them so have had to change meds sadly.

    Its a battle.

    Stick with it
