    Hi Gail,

    Glad everything is going well.

I think may be a good idea anyway if 3 and half hours.  I had a vein lasered before my LTHP and have used them ( black ones) ever since on longer flights.

However saying that we went to South France so a much shorter flight (under 2 hours ) and didn't wear them.

I was 13 weeks post op when went and everything ok but in the mind for me quite a challenge.  Was only a 3 day break but did me the world of good but am still using a stick (4 months now) when out.  Find stepping up onto trains and buses still a bit of a challenge as not very tall and don't thing quite strong enough yet.  Went to see an osteopath ( as well as physio having) and he said to start walking up slopes to build muscles.

Sounds as though you have progressed better than me though.

Have a great holiday - so wonderful to get away and have a little bit of normality in life.  Let everyone know how it goes.

    Hi Gail

Saw my Consultant yesterday, he said yes to sox, keep moving around in the plane. He said I could do short haul after 3 months. I didn't ask about long haul. Always phone the hospital or Secretary if not sure. Have a great holiday. Best wishes.

    Hi Gail

Best to be on the safe side. I had dvt and PE so nervous myself I'm going in June. Was told to wear the socks and take a blood thinner day before and day after. But sure you will be fine just keep mobile. Have a great holiday

    Hi Gail

I'm only 3 weeks post op but have decided to have our summer family holiday in the UK because I didn't think I'd be able to get travel insurance so soon after my hip replacement. I'm assuming you didn't have a problem with this?

      Hi Jodie,

Just to let you know, Im just back from a short haul flight, I flew at just over 8 weeks post op. I rang my insurance company, I paid a little extra to cover me for any hip post op accidents which I am now covered for the year. I did feel a little nervous but everything was fine.

      Regards
