Flying with meds

Had to book an emergency flight from uk to france in two days. A quick google says I need a doctors letter to take with my meds in the airport but I've no time to get one. Has anyone ever had meds taken off them in the airport? I'm worried about the prospect of being without them for a week.

    Never had any probs taking prescription meds abroad at all, kept them in hand luggage incase i needed them, likewise coming home.
