I believe you mean hydronephrosis.  This is the swelling of the kidney because of some kind of problem in the urinary tract which does not allow the urine to flow and as a result the kidney swells.  This is not the cause of the foamy urine directly.  With this condition you easily get urinary tract infections or build up of other bacteria in the urine and this could cause the foamy urine.  To my knowledge foamy urine is NOT a sign of "hydro".  Apparently the doctors gave you an ultrasound to identify your condition and now will check again.  Hope as you do that it is. I would guess that they gave you medications (such as Flomax, or similar) to increase your ability of urine flow.  These medications could cause the urine stream to be stronger and cause foam.  I never had foam.  But due to prostate problems was started on medicines to help the flow.  And I have lots of foam now.  Mostly from the force of the urine.  You ask how will they fix it?  Well it sounds as if it is already fixed.  You say the foam stopped. If the kidney is still large.  If further treatment is needed it depends on what is causing the blockage.  Generally a small device is inserted and the blockage is removed with laser.  But there are so many things that could be causing the blockage, you have to wait and see what it is.  The main thing is, it is treatable.
