FODMAP - is it good really - Acid and alkaline diet

Posted , 4 users are following.

Hi

Just checked and most foods on the low fodmap

Diet are acid.

Therefore I'm thinking that's not good - maybe I should bring back some of my alkaline.

Just ridiculous this food worry - I haven't got much better since I've been on it and have eliminated a lot of good foods

Who in here has IBS And do their own diet or do most stick to the Fodmap diet?

personally i think the acid/alkaline thing is a load of rubbish.

i follow a gernerally low fodmap diet with other foods thrown in that i know i dont react to (ones i found through the re-trials stage and ones i have just come accross on my own). i go through stages where my ibs is bad and stages when it is less so.

stressing about the food wont help you. what is your main issue?

Never having a normal bm is my issue. Loosish or small stools everyday never large.

My food goes through rapidly so I have to have insoluable foods to try and bulk it up. Metamucil is good for softening stools but it has to have soluable fibre.

Having a small stool is perfectly fine. The amount of stool you pass depends on what you've eaten and how much fibre your food contains. If you're eating less insoluble fibre-as most ppl with ibs do then your stools will be smaller as there is less stuff to get rid of each day.

Have you tried limiting fats? They speed up digestive transit so are not what you want right now.

I rarely have large stools; most of the time they are small.

I don't bother with any diets.  I just eat what I like.  If a food disagrees with me consistantly, I avoid that food.  Acid foods are only a problem if you react to them.   Fodmap is not a one size fits all diet.    If Fodmap is increasing your anxiety, just give it up since you are not getting much better. There is no point in adding more anxieties to the ones you already have. Some people do not respond to Fodmap. Try tailoriing your own diet  according to your known trigger foods.  Use a food diary to help you.

Have had afood diary for 3 months

A trigger can be red meat for sure and oranges and grapes.

If I stuck to the fish and chicken and vegetables a bit better but it's boring.

The thing is I have no appetite anyway e

Do you take anything for your IBS? Have you tried supplements to make up for the nutrients you are missing from your diet?

Hi I only have b12 which I'm deficient in and a multi vitamin. Also probiotics

I was thinking of having sustagen hospital strength to help to try and build me up although I read this may cause diarrea and nausea which is the last thing

Even going to take a digestive enzyeme

Do the probiotics help?   Maybe also try an anti spasmodic when you get pain.  Good luck with the digestive enzyme.
