Hi, I see a lot of negative experiences on this forum. And I totally get it but please try to respond if you have experienced and gotten through something similar. I started 25mg Zoloft in December and noticed huge improvements after the initial side effects, depersonalization was a major one that I was worried I wouldn’t get through. I did at about 6 weeks. After about 8 or 9 weeks, I experienced a dip so I increased to 50mg March 5. I felt no side effects the first two weeks and then started getting night sweats a couple weeks ago and started feeling the foggy/depersonalization feelings last week at 5 weeks into the dose increase. Is it possible for side effects to happen that far into a dose change? Can anyone tell me if they have experienced this and gotten through it? My anxiety is increased this week as well. I was drinking on weekends up until last week and wonder if I was cancelling out the meds and that’s why I feel like I’m starting from  the beginning. Sorry if I’m rambling!

    Hello Foggy.

I was on Sertraline for over 10 years, with the psychiatrist reaching a massive 600mg/day of Sertraline for one year during that time. Mostly my dose was 200mg/day though - still considered to be a large dose of this drug. My night sweats lasted for the duration and my memory was poor (terrible actually). 4 years ago I weaned myself off the drug VERY gradually and have been on zero antidepressants since that time. My memory has improved despite me being a post-menopausal woman and the night sweats have abated. Hence, I cannot help but draw the conclusion that it was the Sertraline causing these side effects.

So to answer your queries, for me yes, my symptoms (extreme night sweats, poor memory…and others) persisted throughout the duration of taking Sertraline.

I know there are a lot of negative comments here, but perhaps that's for a reason? The comments here are experiences of people who actually take the drug and not of those who haven't - prescribing doctors and drug companies.

I understand but I have OCD and comments like these are not helpful. I asked for replys that would give me some hope while I’m waiting this out. Obviously if this did not go away for me after some time, I would make the decision on my own to discontinue. Please respect when people ask for certain responses. I’ve been on medications before so I’m aware of the differences between what doctors say and what actually happens.

Took me 10 weeks to start to feel a bit better then it dipped at 50 so upped to 100 and it's nearly 9 weeks having more good than bad days so maybe 10 is my lucky number . Still get night sweats but not as bad now . Anxiety is under control with no panic for weeks . It takes time and some longer than others especially me lol. Feel free to ask and keep asking for positive comments

Hey, I took Zoloft for 17 years for anxiety. It worked great for me. I quit 1.5 years ago then started up again 3.5 weeks ago because my anxiety increased following a health scare and I was having bad insomnia. I took 25 mg for one week then went to 50mg. During this time my anxiety went through the roof. Every night I woke up at 3-4 am in a blind panic and tried everything to calm down but nothing worked. Seemed to get worse with each passing day. This did not happen the last time I started sertraline many years ago. Finally this week I researched online and realised I am taking a different generic this time! I called my pharmacy and switched to the old oneLupin. The one I was having such a hard time with was Aurobindo. Anyway I am on the second day of Lupin 50 mg and the change is incredible. I feel like myself and the anxiety is a million times less. I don’t know if maybe switching to a different manufacturer might help you too?
