Foley catheter clamping post surgery for bladder retraining

As I was lying in bed last night pondering my 5 months of incontinence after TURP surgery, it occured to me that clamping a Foley catheter might help retrain the bladder.  In my case, medications don't seem to have helped (oxybutenin, and now I'm on Myrbetriq).

This morning, I went on-line and searched for "Foley clamp bladder retraining" and up came a nursing site, and on that site I found that iFoley clamping to expand and train the bladder is used for some patients who have been on a catheter for awhile.  So I'm going to ask my urologist if they will do that for me.  Did any of you use clamping before the Foley was removed?

I really think that the acute retention episode two days after my TURP is the root cause of my woes.   Any comments?

Please keep us posted! Personally I am furious because I have been incontinent for 3 months already after TURP and no uro ever tells you this is an after effect that happens SO often!!!!!

And when I ask, how long will this go one before I know I have to have an artificial sphincter implanted, I'm told, "Oh, it's way too early to think about that."   So I continute to go to the Urology offices PT people, do Kegels and other exercisees, and using an electrical stimulation that I rent for $60 per month.  Talk about being a cash cow for my urologist!

I didn't know there was such a thing as an artificial sphincter muscle?  Is it that your sphincter muscle is too strong, so it won't let you void?

I don't like having to use a catheter as well.  Sometimes, I have these feelings of anxiety creep up on me, and I try my best to calm down. One of my problems is, I'm pretty active physically, and so if I move around too much, I can feel the prostate along with the catheter start to swell or may be not swelling, but it feels a little funny...like little electrical shocks. I try my best to stay positive.

There's no muscle, just artificail sphincter.  Look up AMS 800 to see one.  It squeezes the uretha and is notmally closed.  There's a small pump, part of the system that is put in your scrotum, and you squeeze it to pee.  It automatically closes after about 5 minutes.  That design is about 40 years old.
