Folic acid and cancer

I just got a fright and accidentally found something about high amounts of folic acid and cancer risk. Breast cancer most specifically. I had breast cancer so this is scary. Been searching online and it certainly seems an issue. Anyone know about this? I take folic acid 6 days a week 5mg

I dont know the answer to that but I am going to do some research on the subject too. I only take 5 mg once a week (day after MTX) and was wondering why so many mention taking it 5-6 days week. Plan on asking the doctor next time I go
Currently I only take a low dose of MTX so maybe in my case that is the reason
Waiting on approval for Humira and it's taking longer than I hoped for insurance to give approval

Found this....
Folic acid and cancer risk is a more complex topic. There is evidence that taking folate reduces the risk of breast and possibly colon cancer. There is a “U” shaped relationship between dose and cancer risk, however: Women with daily dietary folate intake between 153 and 400?µg showed a significant reduced breast cancer risk compared with those <153?µg, but not for those >400?µg.
There is preliminary evidence that higher doses of folate may increase cancer risk.

I mg to ug is 1000ug.. so if you take 5mg... your taking 5000ug! That's way more then the recommended does of between 153ug and 400ug daily to reduce the risk of cancer... anything over 400ug a day, raises the risk.

I take 5gm a day for 6 days a week. Why don't they tell us about this stuff?

Its all so confusing and terrifying. I just feel like a ticking bomb sometimes. If one thing doesn't kill you something else probably will.

OMG..I've been taking 10mg daily with MTX because I had vicious side effects. Stopped MTX now down to 5mg. Stopping that TODAY.
