Follicle Stimulating Hormone/ Ovulation/Hair Shedding

Posted , 5 users are following.

I have a lot of terrible symptoms and am only 42. One of the more heartbreaking is excessive hair shedding, dry brittle hair and thinning. Also my worsening facial hair and generally looking more like a man some days lol.

For those that have any of these issues, do you notice an increase in shedding or facial hair growth near the time of ovulation/when you should ovulate or before menstruation?

I definitely see a pattern and asked my doctor if FSH could be really surging to try to ovulate and if it could affect hair follicles. Of course she looked at me like I was crazy, but if it is stimulating the ovaries why couldn't it be affecting other follicles?

I don't know but my cycles are 22 days now for nearly 3 years and I am tired of shedding massive amounts of hair and growing a beard every few weeks. The only time I feel normal is a few days into my period..if you can call it that. I hardly bleed for 2 days and then it's several days of spotting.

Doctors claim my testosterone is low but make no comment on estrogen or progesterone levels. How can I have no sex drive, losing my hair and getting facial hair at the same with low t? I think T, E and possibly P are low but they won't recommend HRT due to my age and still cycling.

Sorry for the rant, I am at the point where I feel I must have something like the big c because every system in my body is acting haywire yet all labs are "normal ".

Thinning hair is tough... I just switched shampoos the ones for thinning hair or to make hair stronger.. I have also been doing hair masks more--- coconut oil, egg mask and yes I'm so desperate that I put mayo in my hair. It's all good. and the supplement and eating more protein. My friend just chopped her hair as it was thin too. My cycle is every 28 days and are very heavy so I have to do iron too.Yes, to facial hair but I can never time it-- so when it appears I just get that buzzer for the peach hair too

Thanks for the reply. I have tried a few shampoos for thinning but the straw like texture got worse. My hair was always thick, it's just such a change and growing in gray very quickly. Tried hair supplements too but maybe I didn't give them enough time. I think I eat a lot of protein already.

Maybe I will just be doomed to age poorly lol.

You could try apple cider vinegar on your hair for the thinning. 1/2 cup of that with a 1/2 cup of water. Mine started to show signs of thinning 8 months ago but, that has gradually gotten better over time and I do use that method occasionally. Coconut oil is very good. Sometimes I leave that on overnight. A good vitamin too for hair, skin and nails may help. Hugs ❤️

as soon as I started taking biotin tablets my hair improved. Yes, the hair gets less in unnecessary places and more in others e.g. chin
