I've always been on a low salt diet but it hasn't helped. I started Menieres 2months ago. Room spinning, dizziness etc. I find chocolate causes insomnia and Anxiety attacks. I take betahistine for the dizziness and it seems to help, but still feel, when standing still, that I am swaying. Feel more confident holding onto things, like a trolley in shops.

    Wishing you all the best

thanks Pauline the day or two before or after a vertigo attack I feel unsteady and mildly dizzy. Betahistine did nothing for me. do u just have the dizziness or full blown vertigo?

      Hi Evelyn,

Yes I have vertigo. I only take the tablet in response to an attack. I found taking one 3 times a day, unhelpful.

It helps the instability, doesn't cure it, but helps.

      Regards

Hello to all in this forum and pleasant day. I have had labyrinthitis for the past five years but despite having symptoms I have managed to work for most of that time except being medically signed off for the condition. Now my employer has given me a final written warning despite being on medical sick leave and a clear medical plan. After receiving the warning I started, for the first time, to experience tinnitus, ringing high pitched sounds. I saw the ENT specialist and he straight away diagnosed endolymphatic hydrops to be treated with transtympanic injection of steroids but it will not treat the tinnitus. The tinnitus may have been secondary to the stress caused by the action of the employer. I spoke to a friend about this who expressed his horror as to what has happened to me and suggest citizens advise bureau with union involved. I have contacted the union for advice. The appeal against the final warning was rejected. I am not sure what to do next. It is tough fighting the system while dealing with own symptoms. Any advice? Thanks and have a good day.

I have just been recently diagnosed and while I am trying the low sodium deal I can't say I have been perfect about it. I got a real good blender so I could make me some smoothies with fresh fruits and veggies which I get zero of. I have always had a poor diet...just a picky eater. I have cut out caffeine completely...nothing in about 3 weeks. I'm on a few meds and have noticed improvement. Still have slight issues when driving or on my computer...find it hard to read a book but other than that NOTHING. So not sure what to attribute it to. I wouldn't say the diet...have noticed a huge difference in the tinnitus in my ear...sounds like cutting out that caffeine helped that. So either it's meds or maybe the weather finally finding more of a stable pattern...weather plays a big part....or so I've been told.

well whatever helped I am glad for you. are you uncomfortable about driving. I find it possible but difficult to read a book. have you heard this is a symptom of menieres. I just ordered new glasses because it was getting so uncomfortable. I wonder if there is a connection

Yes I don't want to go anywhere these days...about a week ago I had a vertigo episode while in the school parking lot when getting my son. It's weird though because bring a passenger doesn't bother me. And yes I have read that it is all pretty normal...something with your eye movement...let me see if I can find where I saw that. I know that I have seen something to do with vision problems and menieres...I have terrible vision already.

I sent you a link but I think it has to be approved. It's a good read. I can relate to a lot of it...I definitely think weather change is a trigger for me too. Let me know if the link doesn't go through...I could email it to you.
