Food Allergy - Swollen Tongue

Hey everyone,

I have never had any food allergies but on Saturday i was at a restaurant and i ordered a drink, it was a craft soda from the US, cherry flavoured. As i was drinking the soda my tongue started to feel a bit weird but didnt think anything of it. After a few minutes my tongue started to hurt a little and it felt like it was swelling up, started to feel like it was too big for my mouth. I had a bit of a panic but wondered if it was all in my head. I did eat my food and could swallow okay, my lips didnt feel swollen but my tongue felt sore and a bit weird for the rest of the day. When i woke up next day it felt normal again. Could this have been an allergic reaction? I have never had any food allergies before and i am 47. I have previously started a course of Omeprazole and so not sure if anything to do with this although been on this for 3 weeks now and not had anything like this.

Sounds like you had an allergic reaction to something. Try to remember everything that you ate or drank in the hours before it happened. You need to find out what it is, as it will not get better, and could in fact get considerably worse. Go and see your GP once you had written everything down. You will need to see a specialist to get a diagnosis.
