Food digesting too fast

I am waiting to get a CT scan to rule out something sinister before moving onto possibly more tests to get a diagnosis. Doc says I have symptoms of IBS but there are a few things I am dealing with that do not show up under any IBS forum comments or info. Anemia - doc thinks it is because I have very heavy menses since the numbers go up and down. Burning stomach and acid reflux. I have been told I have GERD by one doc a yr ago but now that has changed to gastritis or ulcer depending on who I speak to and the omeprazole and sulcrafate seem to be making me sick (dizzy, short of breath, shaky, anxious) but when I stop taking them the stomach burn returns vicious. It also radiates to my middle back. (pancreas and liver tests can back normal).
My other odd one is that food seems to be going right through me. What I hate before 6 pm yesterday came out as mushy poo today. Does anyone on her with IBS have that happen? When I wake up in morning my stomach is so empty. Last night it was empty and bothering me so I ate a banana at 12 pm and paid the price. Had pain under right rib that finally went away with bm this morning. Do any of you digest food this fast?
I have lost a ton of weight because I lost most of my appetite and also afraid to eat because I don't know what will set off stomach burn or stomach pain. I cannot stop thinking this is stomach or colon cancer. I know no one can tell me it isn't, I just feel so unwell. Not just the abdomen pain that moves around or the mushy stools alternating with the straining to get it out, I feel sick. Is it normal to FEEL so sick ith IBS? I don't even leave the house anymore.

This pretty much sounds like me on a daily basis (I also have accompanied swooshing and gurgling inside my abdomen as well as sulphur egg burps on occasion). I have had a entire GI workup (except for a capsule endoscopy) and everything comes back normal all the time. Several colonoscopies, gastroscopies, enteroscopies (futhur into the small bowel), ct scan with and without contrast, mri with contrast, blood and urine tests to look for rare gastric cancers amongst many others. When I do get a severe IBS flare I feel very very sick. I also lost weight due to the eating small quantities and chronic diarrhea. I take imodium, lomotil and anti-spasmodics which at times can have no effect at all. In the past we have tried Cholestyramine and low dose anti depressants with absolutely no effect at all. It is a very frustrating issue that has taken over my life for the past 2 years. Keep my updated on your condition and what your doctor finds, if they manage to find anything at all.
Good Luck & Keep a positive vibe on things.

Pain improving temporarily with a bowel movement, food going right through you or constipation, nausea, stomach burning and shifting abdominal pain and pain after eating are all IBS symptoms and do not sound like an ulcer. Back pain and health anxiety are also very common with IBS. Try a food diary to see what foods are causing you pain, try lots of fruit or a stool softener for constipation and Imodium for diarrhoea. Ask about the Low Fodmap diet. As everyone is different with IBS, you may get symptoms that are individual to you which don't appear on forums or IBS sites because these sites tend to give general information. Doctors can be confused by this because they rely on textbook symptoms. IBS can feel worse with periods; I had this symptom when my IBS started. If tests are all negative, IBS can be diagnosed. A definitive diagnosis of IBS, if that's what you have, will help to ease your anxiety and your other symptoms.
Does your doctor know why you are having heavy periods?

Nope. I mentioned it to a doctor I use to see before this all happened and I mentioned it to the two docs that I am working with now and no one seems concerned. For yrs it has been like that so I just stay home the first couple days because of how heavy, and also I will look 6 months pregnant, be gassy, and feel tired. But this month was excruciating since all these symptoms started. Pain, dizzy, nauseated, shaky, panic attacks. I thought it had to do with the gastritis or IBS symptoms but lo and behold I am on day 3 and I feel much improved so now I know at least some of the symptoms were hormonal or the hormones make what docs think is my ibs and gastritis much worse. Nausea and dizziness are much less today and I think worst part of diarrhea may be over or I hope. I have been questioning my menstrual cycle being related to anxiety and physical symptoms for yrs and docs ALWAYS brush me off. This mess I am in now started after I ovulated, diminished a bit when menses started and then when ovulation came again it hit with a vengeance. I now have anxiety over when I ovulate.
I almost drove to ER yesterday because I thought I had become so anemic I needed medical attention. Could barely walk across floor, felt like I had stomach flu I was so nauseated, had to keep making mad dash for bathroom and sweating profusely. By night it was gone, strained to have BM this morning and a few hrs after that I had to make several mad dashes to bathroom. This all feels like some insane joke on my body.
I think the diarrhea may have been result of me deciding I needed to eat something substantial last night so I ate chicken scampie and a salad. The chicken is soaked in butter, garlic, and milk and very high in fat. I believe I paid the price for that.
Hoping Ct tomorrow is clear so I can be one step closer to a definitive diagnosis.
If this is truly IBS I have hell to look forward to but I will take it over something deadly or that requires surgery.

Did you say you were 47? At that age, you could be perimenopausal which can cause very heavy bleeding or extremely light periods along with other nasty hormonal symptoms. Diarrhoea can occur with periods along with sweating. I used to get this with bad periods. You can also get hot sweats if you are perimenopausal too. Your doctor is right in saying that hormones can make IBS worse.
Good luck with your CT.

IBS can make you feel as sick as you describe and it is common for people not to be able to leave the house because of it.
