Food intolerance

My daughter is currently being investigated for possible crohn's or ulcerative colitis. Colonoscopy next week. Would having hair follicle food intolerance test help with management of diet. Would they pick them up for those diseases? The advert said it tested for 240 items? Thanks worried mum x

Those rests are not worth the paper theyre written on. They are a complete scam.

The colonoscopy will tell you if she has crohns/UC.

As Leeniepie said, the only way to get an accurate diagnosis of Crohn's or UC is a Colonoscopy, it's not worth wasting your time on having the hair follicle test done.

You could request a faecal calprotectin test as this looks for signs of inflammation in the digestive system through a stool sample, however even this test is very sensitive and unpredictable, and some people with raised faecal calprotectin, that have undergone further investigation, show no signs of Crohn's and/or UC. I had two separate positive faecal calprotectin results, yet the follow up colonoscopy with biopsies was normal.

A colonoscopy is generally a harmless procedure, just really invasive which put's a lot of people off. I've had two and the worst part is the bowel prep, it's not the most pleasant thing to have to go through, and the constant going to the toilet can be quite draining on the body, the camera part is actually a welcome relief as even though it can be painful at times, you know there is only 20 minutes or so left of the whole procedure when you can start getting back to normal.
