Food intolerance tests?

Hi,

Clutching at straws here. Has anyone found any good places/websites for food intolerance testing? I'm in the UK, in Glasgow.

In going issue with severe nausea and loose bowels for almost 3 years. Can't for the life of me work out what I am eating. Kept food diaries, makes no difference. Can eat the food one week and be fine, the next not. Then I go back several days and can't see anything.

Or does anyone have an intolerance to modified ingredients in foods? Or fortified foods? I don't know if it's something like that even? But even that I can eat something with

modified maize starch In it and feel awful then eat something else with it in it and be fine?! So confused and helpless.

Had so many tests done but showed nothing. Only test not done is colonoscopy.

Thanks in advance!

Your best bet is to see your doctor again and ask if you need a colonoscopy.  Are you having any shifting abdominal pain?.

      Hi,

I am not getting any shifting abdominal pain.  I am seeing my doctor next week and will ask about a colonoscopy but may need referred to a consultant for that.

Your doctor will refer you to a consultant if he feels you need a colonoscopy.  Have you tried a gluten free diet orvthe Low Fodmap Diet.

Yes, I have tried both of these diets.

My doctor just gave me more anti sickness tablets so no further forward!

Keep going back to your doctor for tests or change your doctor since you aren’t feeling any better.  I had to see several doctors on eight occasions over three and a half months with no test showing anything. Eventually, IBS was diagnosed and I am a lot better now. Keep being persistant with your doctor and you will get a diagnosis.

A friend had a similar problem for many years.

She finally had some relief from the FODMAP diet but she was still not enjoying life and her diet was a but drab as well.

About 3 months ago she had a gut biome study done.   I dont know much about it but here is the general summary.    They examined the microbes in her gut and determined that they were "out of balance"  Theyu then worked out some tablets or food that she needed to restore a healthy balance.    It worked!!!!   She can now eat everything and feels healthier than she has for 20 years.

Since I only have second hand experience I am hesitant about recommending it on the basis of her experience but you might ask a few GPs if there is any risk other than the lighter bank account.     I don't think it was very expensive  Perhaps even start with a search on "patient" and "health unlocked"

I hope it helps you as much as she thinks it has helped her.

    Cheers

    Graham
