Food Poisoning or Appendicitis ??

Hi, just around 3 hours ago I started getting really uncomfortable stomach cramps that progressed until I began to poop a lot, and eventually I vomitted. After vomiting I felt somewhat better but then had very watery diarrhea.

I haven’t pooped or vomitted in about a hour, but I still have some stomach pain, it isn’t as bad and it seems to be going away. It doesn’t feel like it’s on one side either, it feels like someone is squeezing my stomach. I took some pepto, but I’m extremely worried it could be appendicitis.

I had a fish soup today that was frozen for a few weeks and reheated for dinner today, but my mom ate the same thing and she didn’t get sick. But I did have a strong coffee to drink just an hour before I started feeling bad. Coffee regularly makes me poop, but this coffee is stronger than normal. HOWEVER I had some of this coffee earlier in the day with only runny poop as the result.  I want to assume the fish soup and coffee didn’t interact well but I’m still scared.

Does your lower right abdomen hurt and do you have a fever? If not, you may have food poisoning or a stomach virus. Press on the lower right region of your abdomen and let go. If you feel worse pain after you let go, then you might want to be more cautious. But from the sounds of it, you’re probably just sick.

I think a high fever is associated with appendicitis. If you don't have that then it may not be appendicitis. Monitor the situation. If no improvement, see doctor.

Coffee can cause loose stools, diarrhoea and stomach cramps; I once got poisoned with soup that had not be heated properly and was served tepid.  If no better within 24 hours, see your doctor.

Thanks for the advice everyone. It turns out the fish soup I had wasn’t heated all the way through, and my mom didn’t get sick from it because it had been brought to a boil before SHE ate it. It was just food poisoning, but I don’t think I’ll ever touch fish soup again.
