Food sticking in throat - can this be anxiety??

Hi,

About two weeks ago, I think as a side effect of a medication, I had sudden feeling of panic, doom and trouble breathing. The trouble breathing has continued, although getting better. My doc told me to take some pepcid, and it helps quite a bit with the breathing.

I have this symptom of food getting stuck at back of my throat. When I eat something, and swallow, the food gets stuck, then I can feel it slowly going into the esophagus. I never felt this before. The trouble breathing has led to a LOT of tension in my neck muscles.

Anyone else feel food getting stuck in throat? Is it anxiety or something else?

It can be stress stress can affect any muscle anywhere , The muscles that help you swallow can be effected by anxiety or stress. I get that where it feels hard to swallow, or you can feel the food going down. or if i eat something like peanut butter it does do down slowly and with pain sometimes. That happens when I'm stressed
