Foot Discoloration/Pain/Swelling after ORIF

Hello,

I had an ORIF of my 5th metatarsal fracture 11 weeks ago. I was non weight bearing for almost 8 weeks. 2 weeks partial weight bearing with walker. Now 1 week weight bearing as tolerated.

My foot has always turned purple/red with blotchy/streaky look from foot going up my calf ever since I was non weight bearing when my foot was not elevated. It was never painful. However, now I cannot even stand up on my good foot with my right leg not touching the ground and it swells significantly, turns very purple/red/blotchy all the way up my calf. It happens instantly. But when my foot is elevated it looks normal color and no pain.

My physical therapist and ortho surgeon both tell me "it's completely normal" and it will go away with time. However, I am stumbling or crawling around my house because the pain and swelling that comes with my foot turning colors. And its hard for me to see a light at the end of the tunnel. Or sitting here terrified it could be CRPS.

Any similiar experiences that turned out positive?
