Foot elevation time by week 6? scarf and akin osteotomy

Posted , 5 users are following.

For my 6 week check for Scarf & Akin osteotomy I'm having trouble getting a lift in a car organised to and from the surgeon in London - its 3 hours by train but I was told to keep my foot elevated when I went to week 2 appointment. Does anyone know what would happen if I went by train and therefore unlikely to have foot elevated for the whole time.

I'm hoping by week 6 its not so important - can anyone who has got to this stage have any idea?

Don't worry you will be fine. Might feel a bit odd after so long up but when I went for six weeks lots of people were further along than me and they were all fine and sitting normally in waiting room. Most get signed off at 6 weeks at my hospital too. Just keep aware of other people so you don't get knocked. Have you got crutches? They are good for keeping people away!

Yes I have crutches - you're right they are ace at fending people off and for pushing doors open too! : )

    Hi Stella

You should be fine for a few hours on the train. You might get a bit of swelling but just elevate your feet when you get home.

Don't worry week 6 is when you come out of the boot as long as all ok. You won't do any damage but you might be uncomfortable. Make sure you use crutches to keep people away from you. You don't want any one treading on your foot!

Thanks Bev. Deffo will use the crutches - just the thought of anyone treading on my foot makes my eyes water!
