Foot extremely stiff while walking 7 weeks after fibula fracture

Posted , 3 users are following.

I had a Weber-B lateral malleolar fracture 7 weeks ago. No surgery was done.

My boot came off about 1,5 weeks ago. My ankle still feels very weak and stiff. And my instep is especially sore and stiff while walking. Thus I have to walk with a small limp.

Any similar experiences?

I broke my ankle in three places its been a nightmare. Surgery, cast  now pt boot was so painful because of scars from staples on both side of my foot extreme swelling. Actually I'm going into Raleigh today and try using cbd oilnon my foot

Very similar situation here. Same kind of fracture, no surgery, and able to take boot off for the past week (but still need to wear it for long walks and outdoors as a precaution). My foot is unbelievably stiff, which makes it hard to walk normally. I’m consciously trying to force myself to step one foot in front of the other, but it’s more comfortable to let my good foot take the full lead.

I’m hoping this is just a case of all the little muscles and ligaments coming back to life after being immobile for so long. I am going to start physio soon so hopefully that will help. Have you been told to do physio? Are you doing the routine exercises (e.g. writing the alphabet with your feet)?

Yes, I have started PT about a week ago and I have started to do several exercises. I think they may have helped a little, but my walking is still far from normal and my instep is still really stiff. I guess it is still early.
