Foot pain after THR

Posted , 4 users are following.

I had a Right THR last June, I am having sharp pains in my foot that come and go. Yesterday I noticed a lump on the side of my leg. My foot hurts so bad at times it hard to walk.

Had an x-ray but said no fracture. Anyone else have this problem?

My left leg is an inch shorter since my surgery maybe I'm just not walking right?

Thanks

Lorrena

    dear lorrena,

I am sorry to hear this, darling ...

I went back to your previous posts and found your discussion regarding 2nd hip replacement surgery scheduled for last December ... since you didn't mention it, I am assuming that you did not have it done yet ...

If not then it might be that you are not walking correctly - your new hip might be overburdened because of your other hip getting worse ...

When was the last time you saw your  surgeon -

do you have a shoe insert to compensate for difference in legs ?

I don't know what else to tell you ... where is that lump on your leg?

Maybe have it checked to get peace of mind and please let us know how you are getting on, okay ...

    big warm hug

    renee

Thanks for replying! No I haven't had other hip done yet. I return to hip surgeon in June. Will discuss next surgery then. I'm going to have bump checked out tomorrow. I have a inch difference in my legs and no insert for shoes at this time. The pain in my foot comes and goes. There are time when it is,difficult to walk. It is probably from the strain of the way I walk.....

    Hi lorrena

I am now 15 months post op and still having problems with my left foot ( operated side). I have 1cm difference in leg length and have insoles but they don't seem to make any difference.  Like you my foot hurts so bad it makes it hard to walk.

I have had a nerve conduction test and it showed nerve damage but they tell me there's is nothing they can do.  I've paid private twice for physio and they have told me it's caused by my spine which is curved.

I'm running out of ideas on what to do.  They tell me only time will tell and I keep waiting.  If you can get more answers than me please keep in touch.

I would certainly get someone to look at the lump on the side of your leg, it could be caused by circulation problems.

    All the best

    Hi Lorrena

I am sure that with one leg an inch shorter than the other it must be affecting your foot.  I have a friend with a similar problem and inserts didnt help so she went to her boot maker and he added more height into her wedge shoe heel. Problem solved. She wears wedge shoes all the time and has height added to the shoe that belongs to the short leg.
