Foot pain for almost 3 weeks

Hi! I've had pain on the top of my foot, just after my second toe for almost 3 weeks. It started as a little bit of pain so I didn't think much of it, the second week started to get a lot worse, it started to hurt when I first started walking after getting out of bed and hurting a little throughout the day to hurting terribly bad at the end of my shift. Oh yes, I am a postwoman so I walk an average of 2.5/3 hours a day sometimes carrying post bags and parcels, sometimes just parcels. It doesn't seem to hurt going up the stairs but it does hurt a bit coming down the stairs. There's a bit of swelling over the area which gets worse with walking and I've noticed that it feels warm to the touch (I can't say if it's all the time cause I only notice it when I'm putting gel on it). This past Monday I decided to get an emergency appointment to see a GP, I didn't get my GP and feel like the doctor I got wanted me gone almost as I walked in. I told her about it hurting, she told me to take my shoe off and even before touching my foot she was already telling me it's because of my job and it will heal in 6 weeks and if not then we'll investigate. Then she pressed where I said it hurt and didn't do anything else to my foot. Told me because I wasn't sure if I twisted my foot we'd 'treat it as soft tissue', to put gel and rest and just stared at me as if to say 'leave' or at least that's how it felt to me, she was aware of what I did for a living so I had to ask her if she meant rest as in fully rest or just rest when I get home. She asked if I wanted to to take a week off but 'it's for resting not to walk around shopping'. I didn't want time off and I don't want time off, I just want my foot to stop hurting cause I can't do my job without walking so I need my foot -.- I've been off this week and mostly been staying off the foot as much as possible, yesterday and today I tried to walk for 10/15 minutes at a slow pace to check if I can go back to work on Monday. Yesterday it hurt a lot one way and the other way my ankle was hurting but my foot not so much, I think my ankle hurt because of the way I've been walking, putting my weight on the inside of the foot instead of laying my foot flat on the floor cause it hurts where I said above. Today on my way out the foot hurt again. I don't like to go hospital unless I feel like it's an emergency cause there are people that need it more than me. Should I just go back to work and wait for whatever it is to heal? Or should I go hospital to see if they find out what's wrong? I'm worried it's just a twisted foot or something simple but I'm also worried that I'll go back to work and make it much worse ending up having to take a long time off work. I'd appreciate any advice, thank you

Contact your physiotherapy department, the will give you an appointment look at your mobility then assess what needs to be done, being as your working you should be soon with a couple of weeks, I would ring them ASAP, dont ever feel your not important, you are. Take paracatmol 2 to 3 times a day, You could have Plantar Facisitis, I cant spell the 2nd word, very common. its fallen arches, I have now got good hard 3/4 length insets in my trainers, you can buy these on Amazon, Simplex is the brand.  Get a towel and put under your sore arch and pull gently whilst raising it above to as high as it will go, stretching it will help, also go up and down on your tiptoes 10 reps 3 times a day, Physio will add more exercises.  Took cope with the pain put a bag of frozen peas wrapped in a teacloth under your foot, bliss, then pop a hot water bottle underneath, again wrapped in a cloth, then back to the frozen peas, allow about 45 seconds each time, thats called the hot and cold treatment, it can be used on all joints.  Also always wear your trainers even if pain has gone.  Hope this helps
