Usually first step is to visit doctor, sounds like you have lumbar syndrome.  You need to build up back muscles, but get help from NHS physiotherapist first.

      Hi Marshall,

I take ipbuprofen as it is an anti-imflammortary, doesn't take the pain away though. I will see my GP tomorrow, i was just worried about going as i went about a year ago when it wasn't as bad and all they said was to take painkillers. Now it is 10 times worse and im in agony every day. Ive had it much much longer than six weeks, its been about 6 months with the severity it is at now.

Thank you so much for your response

Don't worry as stress plays a factor in back problems I've had my flair up since last nov had physio too which did nothing for me I'm having a MRI scan next month as my problem is with my discs

All the best for Aak plenty of questions and push for physio so you can do back exercises

      Good luck

i tend not to stress as i have a skin condition called psoriosis. i just dont want them to go there and tell me to take tablets. i shouldnt have back pains like this at 19 years old. hopefully it can be sorted.

    Bethany,

concure with all the other comments. If the back problem has been with so long you need to push your GP to get you referred for an MRI scan. I was in the same boat and when I saw my GP he was very positive, reluctant to send me to Physio in case more harm than good was done.

MRI was the best result showed bulges in various discs, started going to Physio, with them armed with scan results, gave me various exercises but after 6 weeks not much improvement. Was then referred to pain clinic, and finally got a root nerve injection three weeks ago. Back has improved and am doing back exercises to keep flexibility and also to strengthen. So everything crossed my quality of life will improve. Just have to be aware when I pick things up to do gradually etc. One of the biggest problems, I don't know if other forum buddies experience this, this all comes out of your surgeries budget and they will try the least cost route first. I know it may be difficult but you have to push hard.

    I wish you good luck.

      Hey Alister,

Thanks for all that so useful and deffo sounds like i do need to push a lot, im worried they wont take me seriously because of my age. but hopefully, if not ill keep bugging them. and if they try to tell me to take pain killers ill set them straight, cant keep going on like this. expecially when my new job is a carer!

      many thanks x

get a scan of your back done to see what the cause of the pain is.
