For really bad pain I've been prescribed Targin

I nearly had a heart attack when I read the box and it said oxycodone. Does anyone know if this drug makes you feel 'high' I don't want that feeling. I'm a bit scared about taking it because of that. It's just a tempory measure until I get a cortisone injection

    Oxycodone is a pretty strong opiate. It is not the sort of thing you want to take for any period of time if you don't have to. However it is pretty good for sorting out severe pain.

    Sorry Jane, with all the painkillers I have been given over this past year, I have never been given this.  The medication paper instructions which normally comes in the box might give you an idea?  Or is that the problem, you have already read it!  You could always look it up on this website?  Click on medicines at the top of this page.

    I've been prescribed methadone for pain. It does not give the euphoric feeling other opiates give; but does help alleviate pain.
