For the ladies - a couple of post THR things I have learnt.

I am 7 weeks post of and thought I would share a couple of things with my fellow female hippies.

1) If you are pre menapausal age - the blood thinners will cause a lot more of the monthly stuff, just to warn you.

2) If you are a larger busted lady - for all those nights you will be laying on your back, please get a few of those pull on vest / bra tops (available in Asda / Walmart for around £5). These have been a god send, so comfy and saves having your boobs under your armpits.

Please feel free to add anything else that may be helpful to ladies.

Well done Josey - I did mean to get a pull on vest/ bra for my 2nd surgery (in Sept)! But had forgotten about these. It is now on my list along with the magnesium spray/oil for swelling and restless leg syndrome.

I hope your recovery is going well and you managing.

Best wishes and thanks for the tip.

Thanks josey and you are right. I had ordered a couple of really soft "sleep bras" and they help wonders. Sleeping on our backs is hard for so many of us. Very few are use to sleeping this way. Good luck and continued healing....Barb

Thank you Barb. Big boobs and sleeping on your back are not a hood combination x

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! What perfect timing. I'm 16 days post LTHR, I came on yesterday, and oh my goodness, today has been so heavy, but without going into too much disgusting detail, a super plus tampon lasted 15 mins at one point!

I have been a little freaked by it all day, then I read your post. Thank you for putting my mind at ease!!!

I hear red wine is good for the blood, I may have to have a small glass tonight!! Lol.

Nina. Glad I was able to reassure you. I was in 2 minds whether I should post this thread, but if I can help just one lady, I am glad I did. Joanne x

Oh gosh yes - we certainly aren't going to get this type of information from our surgeons! Thanks. In fact, Graham - do you have a section for the concerns and challenges for women on your site? You could add these items and the weeshe and others that have cropped up in similar discussion threads - or start a new thread asking for all the situations and challenges that women have encountered. It might also be interesting to hear how many female surgeons have been the lead on our thr ...

Hugs Josey, and Graham (aka Rocketman).

Seen these but never used one. But then again in the first few weeks I did not stay out too long that I needed to use a toilet, and when I went to my Mums she has a raised toilet permanently.
