Quick update on my recent despair.

Agonising post op groin pain turns out to be not nerve related. I hope. Rang hospital physio, as advised by my GP. They had me there within 30 minutes.

Intensive 60 minute session. Great guy. I  abandoned all sense of modesty in interests of relief.

Turns out it's the gluteus maximus. Has been out of commission for about 10 years and is screaming its protest at being expected to reawaken and do its job.

After lengthy, and v painful, manipulation, pain in groin disappeared, only to reappear in my bum.

Now, to do 100x4 daily, standing bum clenches. Nothing else. Apparently tried to do too much, too soon 😩. And back to crutch. Awful, given I was walking unaided, without trace of a limp, and 3rd THR op on it, but relieved it's not nerve: am still living with that original damage 8 years down the line.

I will conquer this. Happy days. 😀

    Hi Elain

Thats fantastic news that it is not nerve pain as you thought.

    Curious about the meds now?????

Sounds a great physio...even if it was agony.

Sometimes its hard to know whether we are doing too much or not I know we have to pace ourselves but I was given acouple of exercises by a private physiotherapist and my trochanter fracture is much works and giving me a lot more problems than it was before.

Never mind the crutch. If it helps great.

Once again I'm so pleased for you that its not nerve pain after all.

    Love

GP recommended, basically, doubling up on existing ones and adding another.

I am totally zombified, but reckon I can cope with that, temporarily, until pain improves.

Plus, great excuse to be even more lazy and read lots of wonderful books. 😁

      Hi Elaine

I know we will....just joking. It must be pretty awful to be stuck

Even the weeks after the THR's was bad enough without what you've put up

One of these days or I'll come to you  LOL

      Love

      Thanks. Jag

He said the groin pain was a result of the rubbish gluteus maximus. He was hands on for almost all of the hour. Halfway through, he had me stand, move forward and it was gone.

Then he found all sorts of points on my reverse which were highly painful to the touch. Worked them. Then when I left, I realised he'd transferred the pain to the worst place in my bum. Obviously the 'locus' of all the problems.

Hate having to rely on my crutch again, but I know it has to be done, to stop me collapsing either pain when I step off with my foot.

      Bum clenches agony 😱😱😱 😀😀😀

Muscles are certainly demons! Hope your exercises do the trick - I'm off to see the physio on the 2nd Sep for back - unrelated to hip and knee - because of hip, but am going to ask for some leg exercises as the op has put a strain on my oold operated one and it's suffering a little.

I'm sure you will get there - although I have some new niggles I am still much better than I was pre op!

      Thanks, A.

Doing ok but can't pretend this isn't excruciating. Never mind. All for the good.
