For those with trouble sleeping

I'm relatively new to this forum but I like to share things that work for me. I know how much we all want relief from what is happening within our minds and our lives.

Anyway I am on 20mg citalopram and I have been for 2 weeks. At the moment it seems like once I defeat one symptom it is replaced by another. For example, intrusive thoughts were really bothering me on days past, but today it has been replaced by head pressure, being really spaced out and jittery.

A relative constant for me has been poor sleep. I fall asleep by about 12 and wake up always about 5am when my brain feels like it's revving up a chainsaw. So these past few nights I have been experimenting with guided meditation youtube videos. I have found them to be very effective at ridding the body of that anxious feeling in bed, and enables the mind to completely focus away from your problems. I am eventually able to gain more sleep but how much I can't say for sure, perhaps an extra 2 hours which is invaluable.

In my natural state I am not a very meditational guy, so if it works for me it can work for you too. Nothing to lose!

Take care of yourselves always

Al

Ps. Doing it before you go to bed seems to reduce morning anxiety also

      Hey Al,

I started celexa feb 24 10mg. I had so many side effects it was crazy. As 1 left another one came. I stayed with the med I went down to 5mg for 6 days to help with the side effects. Then back up to 10 where I’m still at.

I was also having a rough time sleeping very bad insomnia. I went 6 days no sleep and listened to Rebekah Borucki on Utube. She helped me tremendously.  And like you I never did meditation in my natural state.

I’m now sleeping better and this drug has really helped me.  but now I have facial pain 😬😬😱😱. Hang in there I just want to add again this drug outweighs the benefits vs the side effects.

      Hey Will,

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I will look up Rebekah Borucki at the moment my choices are very random! My insomnia has been awful all year, but six days @@ you must have felt like crying. Glad to hear you are doing well. I feel like I'm on the mend but I'm not a patient guy. I was on sertraline for years then stopped stupidly but I will grit my teeth through this, there is no other way.
