Fore Foot Overload

Anyone here had fore foot overload due to the shortening of the metatarsal during the osteotomy?

If so has anyone had revision surgery to correct this?

Hi Steve, I am at the eight-and-a-half week point after scarf and akin osteotomies on my right foot. Sorry, I can't help you. I am just posting to say I'd be very interested in what you find out as I was warned about forefoot overload! I was previously a runner but had had to convert to cycling as a result of the foot, recently specifically problems with the 2nd and 3rd toes. I am 44 and hoping to get back to running. So far, I've only jogged a couple of hundred metres on grass so as hopefully not to overdo it. My cycling is going well though.

    Hi Steve,

I am not sure what you mean by forefoot overload, can you explain this more?

I had metatarsal osteotomy and pip fusion 2nd toe.

Fore foot overload I believe is when to much bone is resected from the metatarsal and your weight is not distributed correctly across the fore foot placing stresses on other joints and soft tissues.
