Forks over knives

I saw a movie showing how degenerative changes are mostly due to dairy foods and how Asian people have less problems of that matter due to their dairy free food culture.at least until they adopted Western Union culture habits.

Must watch.

Apparently there are more studies that argue the opposite. Grass fed cows in particular have extra goodies like vitamin K2.

It is similar to the move against eggs and butter vs margarine.

Yoghurt is especially good for the bones.

I will continue with my dairy because of all the other benefits as well. It is low GI  which is good for diabetics.

If you have a problem with dairy then you have no choice but it will stay as part of my diet.

CSIRO and many others espouse the goodness of dairy.

Any dietician I have ever gone to has praised dairy.

    Individual choice of course ....

My husband is sad he cannot have cheese as he really misses that.

    Love my dairy!

I don't know whether dairy causes degenerative changes but it is a fact that throughout the world only those of Caucasian heritage hold on to the dairy culture for most of their lives. In fact it is true of most mammals. Mammals in general give up dairy as soon as they are adult so we 'westerners' are something of an anomaly. It is very useful as a way of getting sufficient Calcium etc and I sometimes wonder how South Americans (where I have been several times) manage mostly without it.

I have been Lactose intolerant for 15 years now but there's lactose-free milk and Lactase capsules so I don't have to give it up.

I do think there is too much meat and too many processed foods in modern Western diet.  Mistake to pin all our problems on one thing.  I agree milk is not necessary for adult humans. But we have to look at so many other factors.  Loss of Vitamin K2 due to changes in way we raise our animals.  Consumption of fewer fermented foods, adding to loss of our own ability to make our own K2, not enough exposure to sun and therefore low Vitamin D, especially in northern latitudes, less exercise so less stimulation of bone building, and generally a corrupted diet where even our healthy vegetables haven't created as many of the vitamins we need, nor absorbed from their depleted soil the minerals we need.  I think milk is a demon only because we rely on it too much and it is simply a rather minor player, even an unnecessary one, in maintaining healthy diet.
