I'm 30 and have had a bad reaction to Forteo(rash and sore throat) but i'm try to wean onto it anyway because i feel i have no choice, as i have severe pain, multiple fractures, -5.9 DXA. i don't know what to do, dr says they've never seen these side effects before. I'm in constant pain in hips, feet, and also mouth due to nerve damage from fractures. should i stick with forteo? my quality of life is already zero.

Medications will only take you a certain distance. You need to make sure you are eating the right foods to give your bones the materials they need to strengthen themselves, plus learn from a physiotherapist the best way to protect your bones, especially your spine, and how to strengthen supporting muscles.
Good Luck!

I've had osteoporosis since I was a teenager from anorexia, which started at age 8. I never had a period in my life. I started hormone therapy but got a period that lasted over a month and quit. NOw I'm seeing a expensive specialist that doesn't take insurance trying to wean me on estrogen since it can't be tolerated the same when someone's body has NEVER been introduced to it. In the last year I've gained 20 pounds, but am still underweight and the depression from the pain makes it harder. I take calcium, vitamin D, and try to have a good amount of protein from soy and egg.

I am seeing multiple specialists(see reply to above comment), but doctors don't know how to handle me because there isn't enough data on people in my situation.

...bless your heart. My heart goes out to you and believe me when I say I understand what you are going through, not only getting this diagnosis, but having to take a drug such as this (black box), almost zilch quality of life, the unknowns...all of it. I am on the Forteo injections (on my 17th delivery device) and had side-effects from the very beginning and have continued to have them throughout my course of injections; nausea, somewhat increased heart rate, and a general unwell feeling which starts about an hour after giving myself the injection and continues for about 2-4 hours. My doctor gave me a Rx for nausea, which I took for awhile, then went off to see if my body had maybe adjusted to the medicine, but like I said I still have them. What I decided to do was take the injection close to when I figured I would be going to sleep at night. I still have the side-effects, but for the most part I avoid them by drifting off to sleep. I have read of others with different kinds of side-effects that they've just had to endure for a little while, and then they tapered off. As far as making the decision to take or not take the drug, no one can help us with that decision. I too felt like I had no other choice; my scores being what they were. I don't like taking it though, and often wish I could just quit. I wish you well.

Good for you. The way I look at it, I can always change my mind, and stop if I simply cannot tolerate the drug. And, yes. Let's do stay in touch. I will keep you in my prayers.
