Foul Burps, Flatulence, Loss of Hunger

I am a 20 y/o female with Ehler's Danlos syndrome hypermobile type. I sometimes have some nausea, and sometimes some pain after eating, but this is a markedly different thing. I am noticeably NOT flatulent most of the time, like at all.

This is a bit embarrassing but it is a problem that's been on and off for about 5 years now. It will start with a grumbling stomach; I get gassy and bloated at night and have flatulence all night long in my sleep that doesn't smell. When I wake up the next day, I have these horrible burps that taste disgusting, like nothing I've ever tasted. I'm not joking when I say it smells and feels like I'm farting out of my mouth. It makes me completely lose my appetite and feel super bloated/not hungry all day long. Eating does not usually seem to have much effect on any aspect it - my stomach won't feel hungry or full; just bloated and "churning." It will only last about a day or a day and a half each time, but the occurrences are happening closer and closer together lately. However, I have had diarrhea for the past 4 months straight (could be due to antibiotics I was on in March).

I went to a GI a few years ago (2015) and he gave me anti-parisitic pills to treat this - he thought it was a giardia infection. I didn't have the problem for awhile after that, but I started having it again within the past year, more and more frequently. Does this sound like giardia or something else? (And if yes, could I be more prone to getting giardia due to my Ehler's Danlos? I seem to have a LOT of infections, inflammations, viruses, etc all the time.)

THANK YOU for any help!

    Hi Emily,

You need to go see the doctor with this diarrhea for 4 months is not good. The symptoms you describe: smelly burps, stomach upset, diarrhea, are symptoms of giardia so maybe you have it again? or maybe you could have an allergy/intolerance to something you are eating. Your doctor can look into this with you.
