Four Months on Sertraline 50mg

Looking for some advice please...
I've been taking 50mg of Sertraline for four months now for depression and anxiety; and I can honestly say that I am not feeling a great deal better. In fact I would say that my low mood has gotten worse. I am in bed for almost 15 hours of the day; not sleeping as every bad decision that I have ever made decides it's time to run through my mind. When I can eventually get up my mood swings are horrific. I have no interest in anything and I put what little energy that I have into just surviving the day. I'm exhausted. I'm not sure if upping my dose of Sertraline would help. The only problem is with the current COVID-19 pandemic, its not easy to get an doctors appointment.
Any advice or input is greatly appreciated.

Hi sweetheart So sorry you are still feeling this way on the 50mg i think 4 months is a long time not to feel any different from the meds Maybe you do need to up the doesage of sertraline as it should help ! I'm on 150mg i like you started with 50mg it took 3 months before i felt any relief then after a few months the dreaded attacks started again Again it took 3 months again to feel any better and that continued for a while I then lost my brother suddenly He was too young to die but he was an alcoholic i couldnt cope with hus lost So went back to see the doctor and she put me on 150mg and for the past two and a half years ive felt better and more like myself again Something you could try if you want to try something the might help as well with sertaline is to take omega 3 fish oil 3 tabs 1000mg a day in the morning when you take your sertaline I read something recently that they help antidepressants work better I must advise you that im not a doctor but maybe it would be good idea to google it for yourself Anything is worth a try and i feel it along with the sertaline in helping me Hope this helps sweetheart We all understand what your going through so never feel alone God bless i hope you will feel better soon Xox

Hi @mary95550. Thanks for your reply; I really appreciate your help. I will have a look into using the Omega-3 fish oil capsules along with the Sertraline. Like you said, its worth a try. I will also ask my GP about upping the dose of my Sertraline to 100mg as both you and @BulldozerMcr have said it could help. May be a while before I can do this though as I don't think face-to-face appointments are available just yet with the COVID-19 pandemic; and I'm not a fan of telephone consultations. Thanks again for the info you have shared with me. X
