Fracture after replacement

hi all

i had my TRHR 6 weeks ago... two weeks in i had excruciating pain, headed into emergency, assuming dislocation or infection, but xray showed my greater trochanter had broken off.

I'm still quite uncomfortable and pretty disappointed that instead of the miraculous recovery I now have less mobility than before the surgery, more pain and more limitations.

Has anyone else had to deal with a post surgical fracture? nobody can really tell me how long this will take to heal, they plan to leave the bone fragment loose so at least i dont have more surgery to contend with... lots of different opinions from surgeons, physio and GP but in real life what should i expect?

thanks! image

Ouch, that's not nice, I had a ceramic socket fracture, which was 'off the pain scale'.

I would think it should only take a few weeks to knit back together, the metal THR parts usually take 6 weeks to knit bone to metal, but take it easy.

Hope you get a good recovery in 2019.
