Fractured fibula

hi I fell awkwardly about 3 months ago. I attended AE as I suspected I had fractured my lower leg, despite no offer of a x ray the doctor reassured me that I had only suffered a muscular injury. Two months later I continued to limp and was in pain I paid for a private x ray and indeed I had sustained a mid shift fibula fracture which had not healed. I was seen at fracture clinic and advised to continue as normal and would be monitored. Three months since fall I have deep bone pain and am so despondent I will never return to running or gym classes. Has anyone similar experience of undiagnosed fibula fracture?? Also have you recovered and are pain free now. thank you

hi anne, i've just discovered this thread. is everything ok with you? i had a similar experience myself- i injured my ankle running about 2 months ago. the GP didnt think it was serious, but the pain didnt improve and over the next few weeks i saw 2 more physios, and had an xray which didnt reveal anything. i was limping around on an ankle which seemed to be getting worse for 7weeks, before i finally paid for a private MRI which revealed a tibial stress fracture. im in a walking boot now. did your ankle heal by itself in the end?
