Today is the first day that I am not using prednisone . it's been 2.5 years since I started prednisone . I am so happy to finally be done with that devil drug. In the two and a half years since taking prednisone I have had eight fractured bones including three fractures in one location. I've also turned from pre-diabetic to diabetic. All because of the prednisone. so I am very happy to be off and I really think my PMR went into remission a few months ago but I wanted to taper very slowly because I did not want it to come out of remission. so think happy thoughts for me and I will think good thoughts about you as well. I hope you get to write something like this in the near future.

Very best of happy thoughts for you. Don't go mad and think you're 25 again again, will you? I found it was more than a year after getting to zero before I felt my muscles were somewhere near ok. Be kind to them.
Good for current patients to hear of your success. Very best wishes.

My days is nearly over and I haven't had a single PMR symptom.

things did not work out like I thought they were going to. My PMR symptoms started up about 6 p.m. and I had to take some prednisone to get rid of the pain. I took 4mg I have no idea why I took 4 instead of 5 I just did . But it did get my pain under control and that was my ultimate goal. To say I was disappointed that it didn't work out is the understatement of the year. I guess I'm going to be stuck at 1 mg for a very long time.

Oh Klanger ! I saw your positive remark and somehow missed your last remark. I was so excited for you. But on the positive side you are only on 1mg. We will be thinking positive thoughts for you all around the world. 😃

It happens to a lot of people - but 1mg is nothing, if it works, why worry?

So disappointing . If 1mg. works for you and that's what you're stuck with for a while common sense tells you that that's ok but common sense isn't what makes us feel euphoric, I know.
I've posted this before but relevant so I'll say it again.... I was down to 1 when I had my hip replaced and was told on no account to try reducing for at least two months afterwards so even the low doses are regarded as significant. I think I went ultra ultra cautiously but did get there and so will you.

Hey! I have a friend also with pmr who has been on 1/2 mg. pred for a very long time. she says she can tolerate going without pred only every 7th day, so her dsns is 6 days 1/2, 7th day 0. everytime she tries to shorten the time frame, her symptoms return. so she is most happy with her routine. i would be too. she was on 1 mg for a very long time, but she is getting there and has a pretty good life, id say. hang i there--youll get there and way ahead of me.

I know that 1 mg is really no big deal, it's just disappointing. These past 2.5 years prednisone has made me diabetic and I now have osteoporosis. In 2018 I fractured 5 vertebrae in my back, broke my left ankle in 3 places and fractured 2 ribs. And I think I may have fractured another rib but see no upside of getting an X-ray or CT since there is no real treatment for a fractured rib other than ice. I just want nothing more then to stop this devil drug.

How in the world does she cut a 1 mg tablet in half? Whenever I do it, with a splitter, it disenagrates. Some times I get on good half and the other half is in crumbs.

Do you use a pill cutter?
And yes, I DO get how disappointing it must feel. Don't you think I have my down days too?

Ask a chemist to do it. I was hopeless at it and sure Mario my insane cat was on predisone several times when bits fell into his bowl!
